Long Purple Eggplant is an heirloom variety that produces a high yielding harvest. Longer, narrower Eggplants tend to do better in our Florida climate. Eggplants thrive during the Spring and Summer. They will produce well into the Fall.
If grown in containers, make sure to water well.

South Florida: Grow Eggplant in your garden during the Spring and Fall/Winter Growing Seasons. August through May are the best times to grow your Eggplant. Eggplant is not frost/freeze tolerant. We recommend Full Sun Mid-October through March. Partial Sun, preferably morning sun is recommended for the rest of the growing period.
Growing Eggplants in Summer: We recommend growing your Eggplant in containers. This makes it easier to progressively limited the plant’s sun exposure as the days heat up and grow longer. Make sure to keep your container-grown eggplants well-watered over the Summer!
