Hungarian Wax Peppers can be grown in the ground or in a container. It will thrive most of the year growing in Full Sun. During the Summer Growing Season, we recommend your pepper plants be grown in partial sun (preferably Morning Sun). Fortunately, Hungarian Wax Peppers will continue producing, even in the hottest, most humid part of the Florida Summer.
If your soil is sandy and loamy, add some organic matter, compost, or gardening soil to encourage more vigorous growth. Make sure that the soil is well-drained.
The “heat” flavor of peppers is measured in Scoville Units. To give you an idea, Green Bell Peppers, rank at 0 Scoville Units, or “no heat”. A jalapeno has a rating of about 2,000 to 5,000 in Scoville Units. Hungarian Wax Peppers are approximately 7500 on the Scoville Heat Index.
