Description
Malabar Spinach is not a relative of spinach, but produces leaves the look like a larger cousin to traditional spinach. It grows as a vine, so for best results, a trellised plant is best. Train the vine to run up a trellis, fence, or tree. It creates quite an attractive plant. Make sure that the plant remians well-watered. It grows well, even in poor and sandy soils.
Malabr Spinach can be eaten fresh in salads or cooked as greens. One of our favorite ways to prepare it is in stir-fries and soups. It’s flavor profile is similar to Swiss Chard.
North Florida: Malabar Spinach can be grown successfully all year, except during the coldest time of the year. To maximize your Fall/Winter crop of Malabar Spinach, we recommend planting it between August and September, then harvesting into the Fall/Winter. The rest of the year, Malabar Spinach can be grown without any problems. Grow in morning sun during the Summer, but will thrive in full sun the rest of the year.

South Florida: Malabar Spinach thrives in South Florida year-round, we recommend morning sun only for this vining veggie. The only times of the year that it may have some difficulty are during the warmest months of the Summer and the coldest period during the Winter.
