Description
Yellow Swiss Chard is an old heirloom variety that exhibits deeply colored, yellow stems.
Chards are actually related to beats, but instead of eating the roots, the delicious leaves are consumed.
For the Florida Gardener, Chards grow very well in the cold weather of the Winter Growing Season and continue to grow well into the warmth the Spring Growing Season’s end. As the weather warms, leaves become thicker.
Chards are high in vitamins A, K, and C.
Sow seeds no deeper than 1/2″ to 3/4″. Seeds are thick, to get best germination results, soak seeds in room temperature water for 5 to 10 minutes prior to planting.
