Beets are a sweet root vegetable that are a relative of Swiss Chard.
Detroit Dark Red is an heirloom beet variety that thrives during Florida’s Winter and Spring Seasons. Beets prefer to grow in soil that is slightly acidic. We recommend planting in 2 to 3 weeks intervals throughout the Winter and Early Spring.
Sow seeds no deeper than 1/2″.
As with most Winter and Early Spring crops in the Sunshine State, morning sun is preferable in South Florida. In Central and North Florida, full sun is recommended, especially from late November through February.
Seed pack contains 80+ heirloom seeds.
